Galatasaray have officially announced the commencement of negotiations for Alvaro Morata’s transfer from AC Milan. The Turkish club released a statement confirming that formal discussions have begun, following the common practice of Turkish clubs when finalizing a deal: “Official negotiations have started with the professional footballer Álvaro Borja Morata Martín and his club, AC Milan SPA, for the temporary transfer of the player.”
This development marks a significant shift in Milan’s attacking lineup, with Morata’s departure paving the way for Santiago Gimenez’s arrival. The Italian club has successfully managed to orchestrate this switch in their forward line, conducting both operations simultaneously until their conclusion.
Morata is set to join Galatasaray on loan until June 2026, with an option to buy. The total deal is expected to be worth around 8 million euros plus bonuses. The Spanish striker is scheduled to fly to Turkey in the morning, where an impressive crowd of 30,000 Galatasaray supporters are eagerly awaiting his arrival at Istanbul airport.
Meanwhile, Santiago Gimenez is heading to Milan for his medical examinations. The Mexican striker’s transfer to AC Milan is a permanent move, valued at 35 million euros including bonuses, with a percentage of any future sale going to his former club, Feyenoord. Gimenez had been keen on the move to Milan for some time, waiting for Feyenoord’s approval after the Dutch club initially rejected Milan’s first offer.
AC Milan has secured Gimenez with a contract until 2029, offering him an annual salary of 2.5 million euros. This transfer marks a significant reinforcement for Milan’s attack, as they bid farewell to Morata and welcome a new striking talent in Gimenez.
