Napoli manager Antonio Conte has spoken candidly about the club’s transfer activities and upcoming match against Roma in a pre-game press conference. The Italian tactician addressed several key issues, including the departure of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and the team’s overall transfer strategy.
Conte emphasized his active involvement in the club’s decision-making process, stating, “Those who know me are well aware that I don’t isolate myself. I participate actively in all club issues to solve problems. I try to be an active part, given my experience, to give my opinion and try to resolve issues in the best way possible, not just remove them.”
Regarding Napoli’s transfer activities, Conte was particularly frank about the departure of Kvaratskhelia. He remarked, “We’ve lost an important player, and today he hasn’t been replaced. Let’s be clear, we shouldn’t blow smoke in people’s eyes. Everyone agrees he was an important player, sold for 70-75 million euros. Other departures have been replaced, but Kvara’s hasn’t been as of today.”
The manager also touched on the team’s performance despite the changes, noting, “These boys have grown significantly, otherwise we wouldn’t explain the 53 points, the same as last year. Credit to the boys, it fills me with joy to see how they work, their desire to grow.”
Looking ahead to the Roma match, Conte praised their opponents’ quality and recent form. He highlighted Roma’s strong home record and the challenge they present, saying, “They’ve won seven consecutive matches at home in the league and Europa League, scoring 23 goals and conceding only 3. It’s a testament to the team’s strength and what they express at the Stadio Olimpico.”
Conte also addressed questions about Napoli’s transfer market approach compared to bigger clubs. He stated, “Napoli’s market will never be that of the big clubs. There are economic parameters to respect, salary issues, and players’ willingness that you have to convince. We can’t throw our weight around; there are several parameters unlike other clubs. Head down and keep pedalling, this is the reality.”
