AC Milan continue to pursue Santiago Gimenez from Feyenoord, but they’re also exploring a backup option in case their bid for the Argentine-born Mexican striker falls through. Calciomercato report that the Rossoneri’s Plan B is none other than Lorenzo Lucca, the Italian centre-forward currently playing for Udinese.
Lucca, born in 2000, is under contract with Udinese until June 2028. The Friulian club brought him back to Italy in the summer of 2023, paying Pisa 8.8 million euros for the loan and subsequent purchase after Lucca’s stint in the Netherlands with Ajax. So far, he has scored 19 goals (10 in the current season) in 63 appearances for the Bianconeri.
According to reports, Udinese are asking for 30 million euros, including bonuses, for Lucca. They are open to either an outright transfer or a loan with an obligation to buy. Milan, however, values the player at around 20 million euros. While this represents a significant gap, it’s not an insurmountable one.
The interest in Lucca underscores Milan’s determination to strengthen their attacking options before the transfer window closes. With Gimenez as their primary target and Lucca as a viable alternative, the Rossoneri are demonstrating their ambition to bolster their squad for the remainder of the season and beyond.
