Roma’s Ranieri: “Hermoso? He Rightly Wants to Play, and I Can’t Guarantee That to Anyone”

Roma are gearing up for their final match in the first phase of the UEFA Europa League against Eintracht Frankfurt, a standout performer in this part of the competition. The German side have amassed 16 points in 7 matches, just three points behind Lazio in the general standings, with 14 goals scored and 8 conceded.

Roma’s coach Claudio Ranieri shared his thoughts in the customary pre-match press conference, addressing several key points:

On Hermoso’s situation, Ranieri stated: “When I arrived, Hermoso was injured, then he reached a good physical level. I like him very much, but understandably, he wants to play, and I can’t guarantee that to anyone. I understand because a player of his calibre deserves to play, and I want players who are happy to be in Roma.”

Regarding the arrival of Rensch, Ranieri commented: “Certainly, I can vary some things and also play with four at the back.”

Looking ahead to the Europa League clash, he emphasized: “Every match is important for us for the overall growth of the team. Now we must focus on performing well in each game, and then at the end, we’ll see what we’ve managed to achieve.”

In an interview with Sky Sport, Ranieri added: “We want to continue growing. Tomorrow will be a great match. We’re playing against a team with well-established patterns. Since I arrived, I’ve always asked for performance and not to focus on the opponent. We have three very exciting matches ahead. We need to run better, as a team. When we’re compact, we manage to be more effective. Transfer market? You already know everything.”

Mats Hummels also spoke at the press conference, stating: “We’re making progress and seeking consistency. We’ve gained points on difficult grounds. There were also several new arrivals in the summer. With Ranieri, there’s a clear path of improvement.”
