A day after his official departure from Juventus, Brazilian defender Danilo left Turin’s Caselle airport for Brazil shortly after 10 AM. The player, who had bid farewell to the Bianconeri world with a much-discussed Instagram post yesterday, is set to join Flamengo. Before his departure, Danilo shared some final thoughts on his Juventus experience.
“I would have preferred to say goodbye at the Stadium and leave differently,” Danilo admitted. “I take with me only good memories. Five and a half years here have made me grow as a person and as a footballer. I carry these beautiful memories with me.”
When asked about the circumstances of his departure, Danilo deflected responsibility: “You shouldn’t ask me: I’ve always been available. The choices are made by the club and the coach, I can’t influence that. It wasn’t my decision.”
The Brazilian defender expressed no regrets about his time at Juventus. “I have always given maximum availability, from the first to the last day. I’m sorry I can’t say goodbye to the people at the Stadium, but I gave my all. I have a clear conscience.”
Reflecting on his Juventus career, Danilo stated, “It’s the most important jersey of my life and my career. Juventus has increased my level of human and football depth. I can only say thank you.”
When asked about his best memory at Juventus, Danilo’s response was poignant: “Many. Good or bad. Normally you remember when you win, but I remember a moment after the defeat against Maccabi, we had the derby right after. From there we regrouped, I remember the circle before the start of the match that became a habit. We regained the unity and family that was Juventus and that it has now lost. I hold that moment close because it was difficult, but it was where we grew.”
In a pointed remark, Danilo emphasized the importance of the fans: “I have received so much affection that I will carry everywhere from the fans. They are Juventus, not the players and not the managers.”
Addressing his previous comments about “imaginative projects,” Danilo said, “Everyone understood what I meant. I wish the team all the best, I’ll be one more fan watching from TV. Now I have to try to be happy elsewhere.”
