Venezia are looking to Ukrainian striker Roman Yaremchuk as they prepare for the departure of Joel Pohjanpalo. The Italian club has initiated negotiations with Greek side Olympiacos for a potential loan move for the 29-year-old forward.
Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Pohjanpalo, who has been instrumental in Venezia’s recent success, bid an emotional farewell to fans at the Stadio Penzo following a 1-1 draw with Verona. The Finnish striker is expected to join Palermo in a deal worth around €4 million, with a contract running until 2029.
Yaremchuk, who has previously played for notable clubs such as Gent, Benfica, and Club Brugge, is being considered as a prime candidate to fill the void left by Pohjanpalo. The Ukrainian international boasts an impressive record of 17 goals in 59 appearances for his national team.
Interestingly, Venezia’s interest in Yaremchuk does not rule out the possibility of also pursuing Eldor Shomurodov, suggesting the club is looking to significantly bolster its attacking options.
