Roma’s Pursuit of Frattesi: Oaktree Sets Terms, Inter Open to Sale

Start

In a developing transfer saga, Roma are ramping up their efforts to bring Davide Frattesi back to the Italian capital, while Inter Milan remain open to negotiations, albeit with specific conditions. The 25-year-old midfielder, frustrated with limited playing time at Inter, is keen on a move to Roma, where he hopes to reignite his career.

Calciomercato report that Roma’s sporting director, Florent Ghisolfi, is crafting a strategy to secure Frattesi’s services. The club is considering a loan deal with an obligation to buy, potentially deferring the full purchase until June. This approach aims to navigate around Inter’s steep valuation of €45 million, a figure Roma is reluctant to match outright.

Inter’s stance, influenced by their owners Oaktree Capital, remains firm on the financial aspects of any potential deal. While not closing the door on Frattesi’s departure, they are demanding a significant economic effort from Roma. The Nerazzurri are aware of Frattesi’s desire to leave but expect any offer to reflect their valuation of the player.

The timing of negotiations is crucial. Both clubs are likely to postpone serious talks until the end of January, after their European commitments. Inter manager Simone Inzaghi is keen to retain Frattesi for their Champions League campaign, viewing him as a vital squad member.

Frattesi, under contract with Inter until 2028 with a €3 million annual salary, sees Roma as an opportunity for more playing time under manager Claudio Ranieri. The player’s willingness to move could be a key factor in negotiations.

An additional complexity in the deal is Sassuolo’s 10% sell-on clause, which both clubs must consider in their financial calculations.
