Napoli are looking to turn the page and find new resources following Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s departure to Paris. While Antonio Conte is getting the best out of David Neres, the season is still long, and reinforcements are needed. Calciomercato report that at the top of their wishlist is Argentine winger Alejandro Garnacho. The 20-year-old is reportedly inclined to accept the transfer, which would see his salary increase from €1.5 million per season until 2028 to about €4 million with bonuses until 2029. An Argentine in Naples to become a star, dreaming of the unreachable Maradona.
Napoli have allocated €50 million, including fixed base and bonuses, for the transfer. However, Manchester United, aware of Napoli’s recent €70 million windfall from PSG, is demanding more. Moreover, United manager Ruben Amorim has started the young forward in the last two matches and will likely use him in the upcoming game against Brighton.
Amorim reflected on Garnacho’s progress: “He’s finding the best way to play in this system. He’s improving during training. It’s clear he has talent. He needs to learn to play in a slightly different position. He must improve his internal game. He’s improved a lot in the recovery phase when he doesn’t have the ball, but in doing so, sometimes he’s not in the right place for transitions, as he did in the past, because I prefer to defend and then build with the whole team.”
However, Napoli not only has to overcome the resistance of Garnacho’s current club and manager but also face new competition. Sky UK report Chelsea’s interest in the player. Enzo Maresca’s Blues are in talks with Bayern Munich for Nkunku and with Milan for Joao Felix. Should one or both of these deals materialize, they would need an addition to their offensive department, potentially turning to Garnacho.
