In a scathing interview with La Zanzara, Lazio President Claudio Lotito expressed his outrage over the recent scandal involving the club’s long-time falconer, Juan Bernabé. The Spanish falconer, who had lived at the Formello training centre for 15 years, was fired after sharing intimate images and videos following a penile prosthesis operation.
Lotito was unequivocal in his stance: “There is no forgiveness. Do you kill someone and ask for forgiveness?” He emphasized the severity of the situation, stating, “I’ve been trying to root out certain things from this environment for 20 years. I want ethical and didactic football.”
The Lazio president highlighted the far-reaching consequences of Bernabé’s actions: “I can’t send someone who does something like this to schools with children. If he was lucid, he should be institutionalized. Obviously, we will seek damages for what happened. Both he and urologist Antonini have lost their minds.”
Lotito didn’t hold back in his criticism of the medical professional involved: “The doctor used Bernabé for publicity. In fact, requests for operations of that type have increased.”
Addressing the contractual implications, Lotito explained, “In the contract they signed with us, it’s specified that those who don’t respect the club’s ethics are dismissed. Bernabé talked about an open relationship, said he has sex with multiple women. How can I send someone like that to schools? He should go to a brothel and be a representative there. Not at Lazio.”
When compared to a previous incident involving a Roman salute by Bernabé in 2021, Lotito was dismissive: “Maybe at your house the Roman salute is more serious, not at mine. Parenzo, buy yourself a team, pay for a falconer, and you decide what’s more serious. No one is contesting Bernabé’s operation. But he can’t associate these desires and actions with Lazio.”
Regarding the future of the eagle flights before Lazio matches, Lotito assured, “There are no problems, we’ll find a solution, there are a thousand possibilities. But with Lotito, the result is always guaranteed.”
