Lazio are intensifying their search for midfield reinforcements during the winter transfer window. After negotiations with Empoli for Jacopo Fazzini stalled, the Biancocelesti have shifted their focus to another promising young talent: Reda Belahyane.
According to recent reports from Calciomercato, Lazio and Hellas Verona are in active discussions to reach an agreement for Belahyane’s transfer. The 20-year-old Franco-Moroccan midfielder has caught the eye of several clubs with his performances since joining Verona from Nice a year ago for a modest fee of 500,000 euros.
Belahyane, who is under contract with Verona until June 2028, has already made 21 appearances for the Gialloblu, providing two assists in 1,550 minutes of play. His potential has not gone unnoticed, with Milan and Inter previously showing interest, though neither club made a formal offer.
Lazio’s proposal for Belahyane is reported to be a loan deal until June 2026 with an obligation to buy. This structure could help the Roman club manage their finances while securing a promising talent for the future. However, they face competition from Marseille, where Italian coach Roberto De Zerbi has expressed concrete interest in the player.
In a parallel pursuit, Lazio is maintaining contact with Chelsea regarding Cesare Casadei. The 20-year-old Italian midfielder, formerly of Inter’s youth academy, is seen as another potential addition to bolster Lazio’s midfield options.
