Inter Milan Coach and Midfielder Questioned in Ultras Investigation

Start

In a recent development in the ongoing investigation into Inter Milan’s ultras, both head coach Simone Inzaghi and midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu have been questioned about their interactions with key figures of the Curva Nord, some of whom were arrested last September on charges of criminal association aggravated by mafia methods.

Calcio e Finanza report how Inzaghi, when asked about his role as an intermediary for requests from Marco Ferdico, a prominent ultras leader, admitted to discussing the matter with club management. He stated, “I remember after the phone call, I talked about it with someone from management at the table. I was hopeful that the issue would be resolved positively, as I needed the fans’ encouragement to win the final in Istanbul. I sent a message to Marco Ferdico, telling him that I had done my part.”

Calhanoglu, questioned eight days later, acknowledged his contacts with ultras despite being informed by the club that he should not maintain any relationships with fans. The Turkish midfielder explained, “I did it because I am an open person, that’s how I am. I met Ferdico seven or eight times, as I’ve already mentioned, at the Don bar or at the Zenzero restaurant for an aperitif.”

The midfielder also revealed interactions with Antonio Bellocco, another ultras figure who was later murdered. Calhanoglu stated that he primarily maintained contact with Ferdico, who occasionally video called him in Bellocco’s presence.
