Manchester City sets sights on Lazio’s Rovella

Start

In a surprising turn of events, Manchester City have  reportedly set their sights on Lazio’s midfield maestro, Nicolò Rovella. The English powerhouse is considering a substantial bid of €40 million for the 23-year-old Italian international, according to recent reports from Il Messaggero .

The Citizens’ interest in Rovella stems from their need to reinforce their midfield following Rodri’s serious injury sustained in September during a Premier League match against Arsenal. As they search for a suitable replacement, Rovella’s name has emerged as a prime target.

Rovella, who joined Lazio this summer on a loan deal with an obligation to buy set at €17 million, has quickly become an integral part of the Roman club’s midfield. His performances have not only caught the eye of Manchester City but have also earned him his first cap for the Italian national team in November.

While the young midfielder seems content in Rome and has shown no immediate intention of leaving, an offer of this magnitude could potentially sway both the player and Lazio’s management. Club president Claudio Lotito might find it difficult to resist such a lucrative proposal, especially considering the significant profit it would generate.

If the transfer materializes, Lazio stands to make a remarkable plusvalenza (capital gain) of €23 million, having only recently secured Rovella’s services. This financial windfall could provide the club with substantial resources for future investments.

However, the potential departure of Rovella would leave a considerable void in Lazio’s midfield, one that the club would need to address promptly.
