Juventus’ bid for Antonio Silva rejected by Benfica: Details revealed

Start

Sky Sport Italia report that Juventus are continuing to push for Antonio Silva’s move to Turin, but Benfica are standing firm against the Italian club’s offer. Silva remains the top target for Juventus’ defence and Sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli and coach Thiago Motta have identified him as the ideal profile to strengthen their backline.

The 20-year-old Portuguese defender has reportedly opened up to the possibility of a transfer to Italy and is ready to leave Benfica. However, Juventus, who have decided to exclude captain Danilo from the squad, are facing resistance from the Portuguese club in their pursuit of Silva.

Cristiano Giuntoli presented an initial offer, but Benfica promptly rejected it.

Details of Juventus’ Offer for Antonio Silva

Following the ‘official’ opening from Jorge Mendes, negotiations between Juventus and Benfica have intensified. The Italian club submitted an offer of a paid loan worth 5 million euros with an option to buy set at 30 million euros. However, Benfica refused this proposal.

Juventus will now need to reformulate their offer to try and secure agreement from the Portuguese club and provide Thiago Motta with a new defensive reinforcement. Meanwhile, the young defender awaits developments.

Silva’s Season So Far

This season, Antonio Silva has played seven matches in the league, scoring one goal against Santa Clara and providing an assist. The Portuguese defender has also featured for 184 minutes in the UEFA Champions League, starting against Red Star Belgrade and Bayern Munich, and making a brief appearance against Atletico Madrid.
