Speaking in a press conference, Genoa head coach Patrick Vieira discussed the upcoming challenges for his team, emphasizing the importance of their next matches against Empoli, Lecce, and Parma. “In the game against Napoli, especially in the second half, we performed well. There are positive aspects to take from that match. We also identified areas where we can improve. The upcoming matches are extremely important for us, as well as for Empoli, Lecce, and Parma—teams like us that want to remain in Serie A. We need to play well to secure victories.”
When asked about the fitness of players De Winter and Ekuban, Vieira confirmed that both are included in the squad for the match. “They have trained with the team all week. Empoli is a quality side; they know how to play as a team and are physically strong. I expect a complicated match, but we have talented players who are performing well. We had a solid game against Napoli, especially in the second half, and the team is on an upward trajectory. We faced two very tough matches against Milan and Napoli and made a good impression.”
Discussing the offensive strategy moving forward, Vieira reflected on their performance against Napoli: “We did well in the second half; we were dangerous but ultimately did not score. We need to be more ruthless in front of goal. With Ekuban and Balotelli, we have players who can bring energy to our attack. Our players are developing well.”
