Rising Roma star Niccolò Pisilli, is making strides in the world of football while nurturing a dream of becoming a journalist. In a recent interview with Cronache di Spogliatoio, Pisilli revealed his aspirations beyond the pitch.
“I’m studying Communication Sciences, I’ve just started my second year,” Pisilli shared. “I’d love to make videos that tell stories about football… or maybe become a reporter. When I scored my first career goal, I cried. I couldn’t hold back the tears. I’m still a bit uncomfortable in front of the cameras. I get emotional, these are my first times.”
The young midfielder also put his journalistic skills to the test by publishing a post on the page’s social media and providing commentary for Manu Koné’s goal against Lecce.
Reflecting on his experiences with former Roma coach Daniele De Rossi, Pisilli expressed gratitude: “For me, he was special. He gave me the opportunity to play my first Serie A match as a starter and to demonstrate what could be my value. Despite playing little, he gave me many talks at every training session: that’s where I felt his esteem for me, and that’s worth more than 1000 other things.”
Pisilli also commented on current coach Claudio Ranieri: “He has brought back enthusiasm and a lot of serenity. He has a career behind him that speaks for itself, yet he dedicates himself as if it were his first project.”
The young talent opened up about the emotional impact of losing last year’s Primavera championship final against Sassuolo: “When I celebrate, I go by instinct, it comes naturally. I don’t realize it, I let myself be carried away by emotions, like after losing the Scudetto final in the Primavera. That’s still an open wound. It was the end of the youth journey: when you enter at 8 years old, you see the Primavera as the pinnacle of the path. Playing the final for someone who entered 10 years earlier was a dream. Winning it would have been like writing a little piece of history.”
