Former Juventus midfielder Giancarlo Marocchi has shared his thoughts on the club’s potential winter transfer market moves. Speaking on Sky Calcio Club, Marocchi outlined what he believes are the Old Lady’s most pressing needs.
“Juventus needs a couple of defenders and a striker,” Marocchi stated. He expressed concern about the defensive situation, noting that while Federico Gatti has been consistent, the team might require two additional players in that area. Marocchi pointed out Danilo’s recent struggles with injuries, suggesting that without reinforcements, the same four defenders would be forced to play continuously.
Regarding the attack, Marocchi touched on the anticipated return of Arkadiusz Milik but seemed unconvinced about its impact. He then proposed an intriguing solution to address issues for both Juventus and Napoli: a swap deal involving Danilo and Nicolò Fagioli from Juventus in exchange for Giacomo Raspadori from Napoli.
Marocchi praised Raspadori’s footballing ability, highlighting that Italy national team coach Luciano Spalletti continues to call him up despite limited playing time at Napoli. He suggested that while Raspadori might not be a prolific goalscorer, he could be valuable as an alternative to Dusan Vlahovic, comparing his potential role to that of Joshua Zirkzee.
The pundit also drew a parallel with Pierre Kalulu’s situation, noting how a player who was sixth-choice at AC Milan has become a key figure for Juventus. This comparison underlines Marocchi’s belief that Raspadori, despite being a reserve at Napoli, could significantly contribute to Juventus.
