Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi addressed the media in a press conference ahead of their upcoming match against Como. The coach discussed various topics, including team preparation, player fitness, and the club’s future direction.
Responding to Cesc Fabregas’ comments about Como’s playing style, Inzaghi acknowledged the challenge ahead: “Como is an excellent team that has always shown organization with a mix of both experienced and young players of great quality. It will be a very complicated match.”
When asked about Lautaro Martinez’s statement that Inzaghi is undervalued, the coach expressed contentment with his current situation: “Everyone has their own opinion. I feel very appreciated by the club and the group I work with. This allows me to perform at my best. I’m appreciated in my environment.”
Looking ahead to 2025, Inzaghi emphasized the need for continuous improvement: “We need to work to improve ourselves. We’re seeing the difficulties with so many teams running together. Last year it was a head-to-head, now there are four teams, and we’ll need to take another step in growth.”
Regarding his future at Inter, Inzaghi stated, “This is my desire, when I feel appreciated and I’m comfortable with the team… We’re in a moment of great sharing, it’s the fourth year, and the goal is to always improve. I’m very gratified, and the objective is to stay for many years, although we know that in football, judgments change quickly.”
Inzaghi also addressed potential lineup changes, mentioning Yann Bisseck’s performance in central defense: “Bisseck did very well in that role. Probably if Darmian hadn’t had problems, I would have proposed him again. Otherwise, Bastoni could do it with Carlos or Palacios in the role of center-back. But there’s optimism for both de Vrij and Darmian.”
On the topic of a potentially youth-focused transfer market, Inzaghi remained open-minded: “The transfer market is a topic we’ll address later. I have no prejudices against either young or old players. We know we’re moving in the direction of buying more young players. If they’re quality and help Inter win matches, I’m the first to accept them.”
Inzaghi provided an update on Nicolò Barella’s fitness: “He trained well yesterday and well today. I’ll make my evaluations and look at all the data, but it seems to me that he’s doing very well, like his midfield teammates. I’ll decide tomorrow morning, but he’ll certainly be available.”
The coach concluded by mentioning his recent communication with club president Steven Zhang: “Yesterday I spoke with Steven, we exchanged wishes. The ownership management has changed, but the leadership is the same. Oaktree is close to us as Zhang was.”
