Donnarumma’s agent: “Long term at PSG? No, we are on standby. A return to Italy…..”

Gianluigi Donnarumma, Paris Saint-Germain’s star goalkeeper, recently found himself at the center of attention following a brutal collision during PSG’s Ligue 1 clash against Monaco. The incident, which left him with multiple facial cuts requiring stitches, has sparked discussions about his recovery, current standing at PSG, and even the possibility of a future return to Italy.

During the match against Monaco, Donnarumma suffered a severe injury after colliding with Wilfried Singo. The challenge left him with deep lacerations near his eye, which required immediate medical attention and forced him off the pitch. Enzo Raiola, Donnarumma’s agent and cousin of the late Mino Raiola, reflected on the incident: “I was present at the game in Monaco, where I live. It was hard to watch live. The stadium monitors immediately showed the impact on his face, and we feared it could be worse. Thankfully, after several checks over the past few days, things are looking better. Gianluigi was very shaken; the foul came dangerously close to his eyes. That was our biggest fear.”

The referee classified the incident as a “game collision,” a decision that has sparked debate. Raiola expressed his frustration: “The referee called it a game collision—what a paradox. But there’s no point in commenting further. Singo and Monaco’s coach did come to check on Gianluigi in the locker room afterward, but at this level of football, such fouls should be avoided. It’s strange to see something like this in Ligue 1; it felt more like something you’d see in lower leagues.”

Despite the injury setback, Donnarumma remains focused on PSG’s objectives for the season. Reflecting on his recent form and challenges, Raiola explained: “He came into this game after missing Italy’s match against France due to illness just two days before the Milan game. He carried that flu into his club duties. Luis Enrique made decisions we respect, but Gianluigi has been pushing through despite these difficulties. Now we move forward with important Champions League matches ahead and solid performances in Ligue 1.”

When asked about Donnarumma’s contract situation at PSG, Raiola revealed that discussions are ongoing but currently paused: “His contract runs until 2026. We’re in a phase of reflection regarding some contractual aspects. Everything is on standby for now. In negotiations like these, anything can happen. We can’t predict how things will unfold in the coming months.”

As speculation continues about Donnarumma’s long-term future at PSG, Raiola didn’t rule out a return to Italy someday: “Never say never about coming back to Italy. You never know what might happen in the future. For now, there’s still so much to accomplish this season, and we’ll keep things updated as we go.”
