Inzaghi reflects on Inter’s win over Lazio: “Some were eager for us to stumble”

After Inter Milan’s impressive 6-0 victory over Lazio, head coach Simone Inzaghi shared his thoughts on the match and the team’s ongoing journey in Serie A. The match marked a significant moment for the Nerazzurri as they continue to assert their position in the title race.

Inzaghi began by expressing satisfaction with the win, particularly against a Lazio side that had been performing well. “Satisfaction? Especially for beating a team that was in great form. In the first 20 minutes, we maintained good distances. In the second half, it became easier thanks to these players who have given me so much effort over the past three and a half years. I am proud to be their coach,” he stated.

When asked about whether Inter is the strongest team, Inzaghi noted, “The field will tell us that. The players did well to interpret the match. Now we have a game to recover. It will all be complicated, but we will always try to put in the effort, hoping for performances like this one. You can all see the standings; there are other teams that have had an excellent run, including Lazio.”

Reflecting on previous frustrations, he mentioned, “After the goal against Parma, I was upset because we didn’t deserve it. But I must commend these players because we’ve been playing consistently for a month now. Without Acerbi and Pavard in defense, we face challenges in rotation, but Bisseck had a very good game. Darmian came on and played intelligently as he always does.”

Inzaghi expressed pride in his team’s dedication and performance level. “I am proud of what my players put on the field because it’s extraordinary. They show this every day. It’s a fantastic group. Everyone deserves to play, but I have to make choices,” he explained.

He also addressed external perceptions of the team since their loss in the derby back in September: “Since we lost the derby on September 20, there were people eager for us to stumble, but I have players who listen little and just keep pedaling.”
