Jorge Mendes, the influential Portuguese agent set to receive the award for best European agent, has spoken to Tuttosport about one of his clients, Benfica defender Antonio Silva, who is of interest to Juventus as they look to address injuries to Bremer and Cabal.
Mendes praised Juventus, stating, “Juventus continues to be one of the best clubs in Europe… but the future belongs to God.” He went on to commend Silva’s abilities, saying, “He’s a young player with a lot of quality, world-class. He has already proven his worth, which is why last year some of the best European clubs wanted to sign him.”
The 21-year-old Benfica player has a contract until June 2027 and is valued at around 40 million euros. Juventus has made initial exploratory contacts, leveraging the fact that Francisco Conceiçao is also represented by Mendes’ agency. The Bianconeri’s strategy is to propose a paid loan to Benfica with a high purchase option, with the possibility of renegotiating for a permanent transfer in the summer. The goal is to secure a sort of priority for an operation similar to the one that brought Conceiçao to Turin.
Regarding Conceiçao, Mendes told Tuttosport, “He’s an exceptional player, a natural raider who can play in any team in the world. And he’s much more than people think! Francisco is very happy to play for Juventus, which has always been his desire. He’s very happy.”
Mendes also commented on Conceiçao’s father, Sergio, saying, “It’s a matter of time because he’s a phenomenal coach. He’s a coach destined to be in any team in the world, as well as a serious candidate to win the Champions League with a big club or European and World Cups with national teams.”
