Inter are very close to agreeing terms with Lazio for the transfer of centre-back Francesco Acerbi. The 34-year-old has struggled for a place in the team after alienating the clubs supporters following their controversial defeat to Milan last season. The former Italy international had been linked with a return to Milan earlier in the summer but the Nerazzurri are looking the more likely destination.
Sky Sport Italia report that Inter have been keen to add another centre-back to their squad, however a move for Manuel Akanji is now looking less and less likely.
Acerbi is considered a low-cost option and has worked with coach Simone Inzaghi at Lazio in previous seasons, with agent having already held talks with Inter.
The veteran defender is expected to arrive on loan with an option to buy included in the deal. The move is expected to be finalised next week with Acerbi potentially making the switch in the next seven days.
