Milan hit by double Injury blow: Morata and Loftus-Cheek forced off against Red Star

Start

AC Milan’s injury woes continue as they face a double setback during their UEFA Champions League match against Red Star Belgrade. Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Alvaro Morata were both forced to leave the pitch due to injuries in the first half, adding to the team’s concerns following Christian Pulisic’s recent calf problem.

The incidents occurred within minutes of each other during the first half at San Siro. Loftus-Cheek was the first to signal for a substitution in the 28th minute, with Samuel Chukwueze taking his place. Initial reports suggest Loftus-Cheek has suffered a muscle strain in the adductor of his right leg.

Just a minute later, while attention was focused on Yunus Musah who had briefly left the field for medical assistance, Morata also succumbed to injury. The Spanish striker appeared to have a flexor issue in his left leg and was replaced by Tammy Abraham.

These injuries forced coach Paulo Fonseca to use two of his three available substitution slots within the first 30 minutes of play, significantly complicating his tactical plans for the remainder of the match.

The extent of both injuries and the expected recovery time will be determined after further medical examinations. However, it seems likely that both Loftus-Cheek and Morata will be doubtful for Milan’s upcoming Serie A fixture against Genoa at San Siro on Sunday, December 15th.
