Como are preparing for a crucial match against Monza following their recent home defeat to Fiorentina. Manager Cesc Fabregas addressed the media in a pre-match press conference, providing updates on player availability and sharing his thoughts on the upcoming fixture.
Fabregas began by discussing the team’s injury situation: “Kempf will be available tomorrow, while we’re still evaluating whether to start Van der Brempt or not – I’ll speak with him. Strefezza is doing well and will likely play, but we still have one more training session to decide. Mazzitelli will return to group training on Sunday, and Sergi Roberto might be back for the Roma game on December 15th. Regarding Dossena’s absence, Goldaniga could replace him in central defense with Iovine on the right.”
The manager acknowledged the challenge posed by Monza, a team known for their solid defense, having conceded only 16 goals since the start of the season. Fabregas described the opponents as “an aggressive team that knows how to defend well and press high. They’ve already shown they can cause problems for their opponents, but we need to win – we need it at this moment. This is an important match, and even though we’re going through a difficult period, we must approach it positively. I’m convinced we’ll bounce back soon.”
When asked about the potential inclusion of Kone, Fabregas replied: “I’m considering adding him to the squad list, but he won’t be available tomorrow. We’ll see if we can have him play with the youth team. Certainly, a player with his characteristics is very much needed.”
Looking ahead to the upcoming fixtures, Fabregas emphasized the importance of focusing on one game at a time: “Two important matches are coming up, but right now I’m only thinking about the Monza game. It’s a crucial derby that we want to win and secure three points.”
