Juventus breathe sigh of relief: Savona’s Injury less severe than feared

Start

Juventus’ injury crisis shows no signs of abating, but there’s a glimmer of hope amidst the concern. Following the goalless draw against Aston Villa in the Champions League, the club faced another potential setback when Nicolò Savona was forced off the pitch with a muscular issue.

The Italian full-back, who has been a revelation since being promoted from Juventus Next Gen by manager Thiago Motta, pulled up in the 66th minute of the second half. Savona felt discomfort in his thigh and immediately signaled for medical assistance, prompting Motta to replace him with Danilo.

Calciomercato report that  Savona underwent medical examinations at the J|Medical center at Continassa in Turin. Fortunately for Juventus, the tests have ruled out any significant injury. The club released an official statement:

“Following discomfort in his right adductor experienced during the second half of the Champions League match against Aston Villa, Nicolò Savona underwent tests today, November 28. Instrumental examinations have excluded lesions, and his condition will be evaluated in the coming days.”

This news comes as a relief to Motta, who traveled to Villa Park with only 14 outfield players available due to the ongoing injury crisis at the club. While Savona’s availability for the upcoming away match against Lecce remains in doubt, there’s optimism that he could at least make the squad list.

Realistically, Juventus fans might have to wait until December 7th to see Savona back in action, when Bologna visits Turin. The club will continue to monitor his condition day by day, hoping for a swift recovery to bolster their depleted ranks.
