Inter Milan have officially announced the contract extension of Denzel Dumfries, solidifying the Dutch wing-back’s future with the club until 2028. This move comes as part of Inter’s strategic plan to secure key players, following the recent renewal of Yann-Aurel Bisseck’s contract.
Dumfries, who joined Inter in 2021, has agreed to a three-year extension on his previous deal, demonstrating his commitment to the Nerazzurri. The 27-year-old expressed his pride and excitement about continuing his journey with Inter, describing the past three years as “wonderful” and highlighting his growth both as a player and as a person since his arrival from PSV Eindhoven.
The new agreement not only extends Dumfries’ stay but also includes a significant salary increase. The Dutch international will now earn €4 million net per season, doubling his previous wages and matching the salary of fellow wing-back Federico Dimarco. However, thanks to tax benefits from the Growth Decree, Dumfries’ gross cost to Inter will be slightly lower than Dimarco’s.
In an interview with Inter TV, Dumfries reflected on his time at the club, emphasizing the emotional high of winning the Scudetto last season. He expressed his deep connection to Inter and Milan, noting that two of his three children were born in the city, making it a special place for his family.
Dumfries also spoke about his personal development, crediting the technical staff and coach Simone Inzaghi for helping him adapt to Italian football and continuously improve his game. Looking ahead, he aims to become more consistent and reliable on the field, acknowledging the progress he’s already made while striving for further improvement.
The Dutch defender outlined ambitious goals for the team, including success in the Champions League and defending their Serie A title. He emphasized the squad’s determination to compete for every trophy and maintain a high level of performance in all competitions.
Concluding his interview, Dumfries expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Inter fans, who have made him feel at home since his arrival. He looks forward to creating more memorable moments with the supporters in the coming years, as he continues to don the black and blue stripes of Inter Milan.
