Ahead of the crucial Champions League match between Slovan Bratislava and AC Milan, Rossoneri coach Paulo Fonseca shared his thoughts in a pre-match interview with Sky Sport. The game is vital for Milan as they aim to secure their position in the group stage.
Fonseca began by emphasising the importance of managing the team’s workload: “We have many matches, and players have also been involved in national teams. We need to manage this and still aim to win. Nobody wants to win more than I do, and today I’ve chosen a team that wants to win here.”
Reflecting on a recent match against Juventus, Fonseca noted, “We must understand that playing against Juventus requires a very specific approach. I believe we must respect our opponent; these three points are very important. Florenzi mentioned in the locker room that the victory against Real Madrid means nothing if we don’t win today, and that’s the spirit I want to see.”
Regarding their current standing, Fonseca stated, “I think we need to focus on one match at a time. Today it is important to win. We’ll consider the standings at the end of the group stage; if we don’t win today, there’s no point in thinking about what’s next.”
He concluded by addressing the team’s approach: “The sequence of matches is such that we must only think about the Champions League. I believe each game is different, but the points are the same. We must find motivation to always secure those three points.”
