Following Inter’s 5-0 victory over Verona, which temporarily placed the team at the top of the Serie A table, manager Simone Inzaghi spoke to DAZN in his post-match interview.
Inzaghi began by praising Joaquin Correa’s performance: “We know him very well, he’s training at a good level, and he knows there’s a lot of competition up front. I wanted to play him already in Rome, and Lautaro would have been on the bench today regardless of his flu. I’m happy for the boys, we played a great game.”
Regarding the switch to a four-man defense, Inzaghi explained: “It’s a solution. Then in the second half, I needed to give some rest to players who were tired after international duties. We managed to win a crucial game. The only concern is Acerbi, who said he felt his flexor tighten, but it seems he stopped in time.”
On Marcus Thuram’s performance, the coach commented: “I think he’s already done great things last year. It’s clear he needed to improve in terms of scoring, and he knows it. He showed up the last two days with great desire and is getting important satisfactions.”
Finally, addressing the Champions League situation, Inzaghi concluded: “To reach the round of 16, we still need 7-8 points. We’ve earned 10 points in 4 games, and now we face two German teams that will challenge us considerably.”
