Liverani: “Inter favourites for Scudetto, Lazio’s Dia and Tchaouna are two great signings”

Fabio Liverani, the former Salernitana manager, recently shared his thoughts on the current Serie A season and his future coaching prospects in an interview. Eager to return to the sidelines after his stint at Salernitana ended in February 2024, Liverani expressed his readiness for a new challenge: “I believe it will happen soon, I hope very soon. The desire is to want to enter to be able to make an impact, there has been something, something has not gone well… We’ll see, but the will is there.”

Commenting on the current Serie A season, Liverani noted the tight competition: “In recent years, there has never been such a close fight, and this shows that today it’s difficult to break away in Serie A. In the end, the values will come out, and Inter has a slight advantage as a team and squad. Napoli is an important antagonist and doesn’t play in European cups, which can weigh in the long run.”

Liverani praised Fiorentina and Lazio as two of the season’s pleasant surprises. He highlighted Fiorentina’s significant market moves and Lazio’s impressive performance despite low pre-season expectations. “Without a shadow of a doubt, Baroni, along with Conte, is the one ahead of everyone and who has had the best impact among the new ones,” he added, referring to Lazio’s coach.

Regarding the relegation battle, Liverani described it as “very beautiful” with 7-8 teams within 3-4 points of each other. He also shared his thoughts on Lecce’s recent coaching change and the passionate support of their fans.

Liverani spoke positively about Parma’s project under Krause’s ownership, praising their focus on young talent and state-of-the-art facilities. He also commented on Cagliari’s current situation and the challenges faced by Salernitana.

On individual players, Liverani had high praise for Boulaye Dia and Loum Tchaouna, now at Lazio: “For Dia, you didn’t need to be a great connoisseur to understand that he’s an extraordinary player: he knows how to score goals, play with others, he’s technical, fast, intelligent.” Regarding Tchaouna, he said, “He has great quality, can grow tremendously, needs to be educated in the collective because he’s instinctive, but has strength and talent. They are two great signings.”
