According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, AC Milan are contemplating a romantic reunion with Brahim Diaz in the upcoming January transfer window. The affectionate relationship between Diaz and Milan has reportedly remained strong despite his year and a half away from the Rossoneri.
While Diaz has recently impressed with the Moroccan national team, scoring a brace against Gabon, he has struggled to secure significant playing time at Real Madrid. Injuries have limited his appearances to just seven in the league (only two as a starter) and 45 minutes in the Champions League, resulting in a meager tally of one goal and one assist.
The arrival of Kylian Mbappé at Madrid has further complicated matters for Diaz. Already relegated to a luxury substitute role last season, Diaz has found consistent playing time even harder to come by since August. La Gazzetta dello Sport suggests that the desire for a more prominent role elsewhere cannot be ruled out.
Diaz’s ties with Milan and some of his former teammates have remained strong, as evidenced by their recent Champions League encounter and his close friendship with Theo Hernandez.
These factors have fueled rumors of a possible reunion in January. While Milan’s priority is to bolster their midfield, they remain open to opportunities in other positions. Diaz fits this category due to his familiarity with the Milan environment and his versatility as both a technical and tactically valuable player, capable of playing as an attacking midfielder or right winger.
Diaz previously wore the Milan shirt from August 2021 to May 2023 on a two-year loan and is currently under contract with Real Madrid until June 2027. However, with the fierce competition for attacking positions at Madrid, including young talents like Arda Guler and Endrick, it’s understandable that Diaz might be looking for regular playing time elsewhere.
