Claudio Ranieri is set to make a sensational return as Roma’s new manager, with an agreement reportedly reached between the veteran coach and the Friedkin Group. The official announcement is expected imminently.
Sky Sport Italia report that the 73-year-old Italian tactician flew to London on Tuesday evening to meet with Roma’s ownership, and discussions appear to have been successful. This will mark Ranieri’s third stint at the helm of the Giallorossi, following previous tenures in 2009-2010 and 2019.
Roma’s decision to turn to Ranieri comes after the dismissal of Ivan Juric, with the club currently sitting in 12th place in Serie A. The Friedkins were keen to bring in an experienced manager with strong ties to the club, and Ranieri fits the bill perfectly.
The team is scheduled to resume training at Trigoria on Thursday, November 14th at 11:00 AM local time. However, many players will be absent due to international commitments. Those present will begin preparations for the upcoming match against Napoli under their new manager’s guidance.
