Napoli captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo has reflected on the team’s recent 3-0 loss to Atalanta and looked ahead to their upcoming clash with Inter Milan. Speaking in an interview with Corriere dello Sport, Di Lorenzo emphasized the importance of learning from setbacks and maintaining a positive outlook.
“Losing hurts, but you can grow from defeats. They are part of the journey,” Di Lorenzo stated. “We’ve already analyzed the game and will extract the maximum even from losses. It’s disappointing, but we move forward and focus on the next match.”
Looking ahead to the high-profile encounter with Inter Milan, Di Lorenzo expressed excitement about the challenge: “It’s a test to understand our level. These are beautiful games to play, and we want to measure ourselves against a great team.”
The Napoli skipper also revealed his preparation for the match: “I’ll watch Inter tonight because I watch many games. It will be a great match against Arsenal as both teams are doing well. I’ll watch as a spectator, and then we’ll go into detail with the coach in the coming days.”
Di Lorenzo acknowledged Inter’s strengths, particularly noting the addition of former Napoli player Piotr Zielinski: “They’ve added important players like Zielinski, whom we know well. They make the most of their qualities, changing positions with Bastoni pushing up a lot. We’ll need to be careful; it’s a job for the whole team. The defensive phase involves everyone, and we’ll need to be good when they have possession. We’ll also need to manage the ball well ourselves.”
The captain also spoke about his relationship with his agent, Mario Giuffredi: “Over the years, the agent becomes an increasingly important figure. I’m fortunate to have had Mario for years. He’s a figure who goes beyond the professional aspect, as he’s someone I confide in and who gives me advice. Having someone you completely trust by your side is wonderful. I feel lucky.”
