Milan and Real Madrid: A history of transfers and future prospects

Start

Milan and Real Madrid, the two most successful clubs in Champions League history with 15 and 7 titles respectively, share a strong bond that extends beyond the pitch. Their shared values and style have fostered a solid friendship that has endured changes in players, presidents, and management. This relationship has often translated into a fruitful alliance in the transfer market.

From Kaká to Diego Lopez, and from Theo Hernandez to Brahim Díaz, the history between these clubs is rich with transfers that have delighted fans on both sides. The most recent deal was completed last summer for Alex Jiménez, a promising right-back born in 2005, whom Milan purchased for 5 million euros. Real Madrid, however, has maintained some control over the player with two buyback options: one for 9 million euros exercisable in June 2025, and another for 12 million euros in June 2026.

The dialogue between the two clubs remains open and constant, potentially leading to new deals in the coming months. Milan has set its sights on Nico Paz, an Argentine talent recently acquired by Como but still under Real Madrid’s watchful eye. The Spanish giants’ plan is to bring the youth product back to their fold within two or three years, but if this doesn’t materialize, Nico could enter Milan’s orbit.

Attention should also be paid to potential developments regarding Theo Hernandez. The French left-back dreams of a starring return to Real Madrid, and difficulties in renewing his contract with Milan could fuel this desire. In the past, Milan’s sporting director Moncada had shown interest in Turkish wonderkid Arda Güler and might consider Dani Ceballos at the end of the season.
