Robin Gosens has once again proven his worth for Fiorentina, scoring a decisive goal against Genoa following his debut equalizer against Monza. The former Atalanta and Inter player seems to have rediscovered his form in Florence after a challenging season with Union Berlin.
Gianluca Mancini, Gosens’ agent, spoke to TMW about the German’s impressive start at Fiorentina. “It was a great day. Robin has always impressed us with his statistics and numbers, which are certainly not typical for a full-back. With yesterday’s contribution, he has reached 50 goals and assists in Italy: it’s not just any number and shows how important and devastating he is in the final meters,” Mancini stated.
Gosens has made an excellent start at Fiorentina, starting all eight league games and contributing two goals and two assists in 694 minutes of play. Mancini commented on this success: “His experience in Serie A has helped him; he grew footballistically in Italy. Union Berlin was a transitional phase, things didn’t go well at the team level, partly because there were two different coaches and he played multiple roles. He feels at home in Italy and Serie A, and returning was his goal. Today, I think Fiorentina can be happy with the way things are going and the deal they made.”
Regarding the transfer, Mancini praised Fiorentina’s sporting director Daniele Pradè: “Pradè was brilliant in seizing the opportunity. He was acquired for half of half of what Inter spent just two years ago. He was smart with the timing, waiting for the last days of the market to get the best conditions. He got an international level player at very low figures compared to what you see around today.”
Mancini also revealed details about the transfer agreement: “He arrived on a loan with an option to buy. When there’s willingness, Fiorentina has the possibility to redeem him at any time, otherwise the obligation will be triggered when he reaches a certain percentage of appearances.”
The agent concluded by discussing the financial aspects of the deal: “Fiorentina spent 500,000 euros for Gosens’ loan in the summer, to which 7.5 million for the buyout will be added. Inter had paid a total of 25 million euros, including bonuses, in January 2022, only to sell him to Union for 15 million euros in 2023.”
