Che Adams delivered a stunning performance for Torino, scoring the only goal of the match in a 1-0 victory against Empoli on Friday night. This win marked Torino’s first success in seven Serie A matches, providing a much-needed boost for the team.
Adams, who began the game on the bench, was one of two changes made by coach Paolo Vanoli following a disappointing 1-0 loss to Roma. In contrast, Empoli’s Roberto D’Aversa made just one alteration, replacing center-forward Pietro Pellegri with Lorenzo Colombo.
The match saw several opportunities for both sides. Empoli nearly took the lead in the 35th minute when Liberato Cacace’s shot was deflected for a corner after a clever exchange with Tino Anjorin and Colombo. Shortly after, Torino’s Antonio Sanabria was denied by a crucial save from Devis Vasquez.
In the second half, Empoli continued to threaten with attempts from Gyasi and Cacace, but they failed to convert Sebastiano Esposito’s cross into a goal. The deadlock was finally broken in the 70th minute when Adams, noticing Vasquez off his line, executed an audacious lob from the center circle that found the back of the net.
This remarkable strike not only ended Adams’ goal drought but also lifted Torino to 11th place in the Serie A standings, now level on points with Empoli at 19. However, Empoli remains ahead in the table due to goal difference.
With this victory, Torino celebrated their first win in over a month and a half, providing relief for coach Vanoli and revitalizing their season.
