Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna is already hard at work planning the club’s defensive reinforcements for both the January transfer window and the upcoming summer. The club is actively searching for a central defender to bolster their backline.
According to reports from TMW, Napoli are considering several options for the January window. While the club is primarily focused on signing players under contract, they haven’t ruled out the possibility of bringing in experienced free agents. Two intriguing names have emerged as potential targets: Simon Kjaer and Sergio Ramos. Both veterans could provide immediate leadership and quality to Napoli’s defense.
However, the club’s most ambitious target appears to be Inter Milan’s Stefan De Vrij. The Dutch defender’s contract with Inter is set to expire at the end of the season, and it seems unlikely that he will renew. Napoli are reportedly keen on securing De Vrij’s services for the next campaign, with the club potentially making an approach in January to lay the groundwork for a summer move.
In addition to De Vrij, Napoli are keeping tabs on several other defenders. Genoa’s Radu Dragusin remains a player of interest, while Arsenal’s Jakub Kiwior, who has seen limited playing time in London, is also on Manna’s radar.
The club’s strategy seems to be twofold: address immediate needs in January while also planning for long-term defensive stability. With Antonio Conte at the helm, Napoli are determined to build a robust backline that can compete at the highest level.
