Sassuolo sporting director Giovanni Carnevali has confirmed that Gianluca Scamacca is close to agreeing a move to West Ham this summer. The 25-year enjoyed his best season yet with the Neroverdi and was being tipped to leave the club during the transfer window.
Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain were reportedly leading the race for the player in recent weeks but their failure to match Sassuolo asking price has allowed West Ham to agree a deal with the Serie A side.
Speaking to Il Corriere dello Sport, Carnevali said:
“There’s an agreement with West Ham for €36m fee plus €6m add-ons and 10% sell-on clause.
“I’m sure he will do great things, he’s a huge talent and very good guy.”
Scammaca scored 16 goals in 38 appearances for Sassuolo last season, attracting the attention of both Milan clubs before the deal with the Hammers was agreed.
