Inter hold team meeting and prepare for Empoli clash

Start

In the wake of their thrilling 4-4 draw against Juventus, Inter Milan held a lengthy face-to-face meeting between the coaching staff and players this morning. Calciomercato report that the session aimed to analyze their performance in the recent match, examining both the aspects that worked well and those that left room for improvement, particularly focusing on the defensive phase which has struggled to find an acceptable balance.

With the away fixture against Empoli looming tomorrow, the team and coach Simone Inzaghi have little time to dwell on the past. They are already looking for an immediate and effective reaction. The consensus from the meeting was clear: while a proactive attitude is appreciated, it shouldn’t come at the cost of lazy recoveries or unexpected and dangerous one-on-one situations.

Inzaghi’s rotation for the Empoli match is not expected to be extensive. The lineup that faced Juventus is likely to remain largely unchanged, with a few positions still up for debate. One such battle is between Asllani and Zielinski, though the Albanian trained with a noticeable knee bandage and participated in the final practice session with the non-starters. The Polish midfielder was once again tested in front of the defense, flanked by Barella and Mkhitaryan.

Matteo Darmian, fresh from signing a contract extension until 2026, is set to return to the starting lineup. Bisseck might also get a chance to start, having been tested in place of Pavard. In attack, despite expectations that Taremi might get his first start, the Thuram-Lautaro partnership seems likely to continue.

The probable lineup for Inter against Empoli is shaping up to be: Sommer; Bisseck, de Vrij, Bastoni; Darmian, Barella, Zielinski, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Thuram, Lautaro.
