Juric “We got it all wrong against Fiorentina. My future? Others decide”

Roma endured a disastrous evening as they were thrashed 5-1 by Fiorentina in a Serie A match that left manager Ivan Juric visibly frustrated. The Giallorossi’s poor performance was compounded by a red card to Hermoso, leading to an unfortunate debut for Hummels who scored an own goal.

In his post-match interview with DAZN, Juric didn’t mince words about his team’s performance: “We got everything wrong tonight. It was as if we completely forgot the last 40 days of work,” the Roma coach began. “I didn’t expect it because we’d been playing well and looking solid. But we got it all wrong tonight.”

Juric made a bold double substitution just 30 minutes into the game, a move he explained was due to his dissatisfaction with the team’s approach: “I saw very little focus, very little attention. I didn’t like our attitude, especially defensively. I decided to change things, both to shake them up and to give them a signal.” The coach emphasized that the problem wasn’t limited to the substituted players but extended to the entire team. He specifically mentioned Bryan Cristante’s poor performance but stressed the need for all players, starters and substitutes alike, to be fully engaged in the match.

Despite Roma’s generally solid defensive record in recent matches, Juric expressed his disappointment with the goals conceded: “We conceded some ridiculous goals today. If a team performs well in seven matches, it means you have players with certain qualities. They lacked focus today.”

When questioned about his future at the club, Juric acknowledged the volatile nature of football management: “You know how football works. We’ve worked superbly for 40 days and we threw it all away today. That’s how I feel. It saddens me a lot. But you know how football works. It’s up to others to decide. We have to work.”
