In one of the most anticipated matches of the season, Inter Milan and Juventus played out an exhilarating 4-4 draw in the Derby d’Italia at San Siro. Following the eight-goal thriller, Juventus manager Thiago Motta shared his thoughts on the game.
“We fell behind in the first half with two penalties. These were complicated situations, but we still managed to stay in the game,” Motta explained. “Inter deserved to score a fifth goal, but in the end we equalized and even deserved to take the lead.”
Motta acknowledged the rollercoaster nature of the match, stating, “Many things happened. We need to analyze everything.” He reflected on the defensive struggles his team faced: “Conceding four goals? We can improve on everything. Every match has a different story. Today we suffered a lot defensively, partly due to the technical quality of our opponents. We left too many chances.”
Despite these challenges, he was pleased with his team’s attacking response. “But on the other hand, we went on the attack and created many dangers,” he noted. “It was an open game and a clean match.”
When discussing the impact of substitutions, Motta said, “Did we turn it around with the changes? Yes, but I want to emphasize that we went into halftime down and had to fight back.” He praised his players for their resilience: “We managed to stay competitive even when facing adversity.”
