As Monza prepare for their crucial relegation battle against Venezia, head coach Alessandro Nesta has been facing some tough decisions regarding his team selection. In his pre-match press conference, Nesta provided insights into the squad’s condition and his tactical approach.
Nesta praised the performance of Dany Mota, stating, “Dany Mota has had some problems, but whenever he has played, he has always done well.” This suggests that Mota could play a key role in the upcoming match.
The coach also revealed the list of players unavailable for the Venezia clash: “Sensi, Gagliardini, Petagna, and Birindelli will be absent; Ciurria and Maldini will be on the bench.” This update gives a clearer picture of Monza’s squad depth for the game.
Of particular interest is the situation with Daniel Maldini. The young trequartista has been recovering from a shoulder injury sustained during training, which forced him to miss the previous match against Verona. Nesta, in consultation with the medical staff, has decided to include Maldini on the bench, potentially using him as a substitute if needed.
With Maldini not starting, Nesta is likely to deploy Caprari and Mota Carvalho behind lone striker Djuric in Monza’s attacking setup.
The topic of Maldini’s future has also been a subject of recent speculation, with rumors linking him to Inter Milan. However, Monza CEO Adriano Galliani firmly dismissed these rumors, saying, “I have never spoken about Maldini with anyone. Does Daniel at Inter seem a bit strange?
