Milan express strong disappointment over Bologna match postponement

Start

AC Milan have expressed significant disappointment following the postponement of their Serie A match against Bologna. The decision, made by the Lega Serie A after a tense morning filled with conflicting reports and dashed hopes, ultimately favored Bologna’s stance against playing at a neutral venue.

Calciomercato report that while Milan have always been committed to social causes and solidarity, the club finds the ordinance issued by Bologna’s mayor, Matteo Lepore, incomprehensible. The Rossoneri’s frustration stems from the fact that other events in Bologna, such as Auto e Moto d’Epoca 2024 and the Bologna Boxing Night featuring a European boxing match, are proceeding as planned, albeit behind closed doors in some cases.

Sources close to the Milan club reveal that the problem arose partly due to poor timing, which prevented a more thorough evaluation of potential alternatives. Milan claim to have done everything within their power to find a solution, while Bologna opposed the option of playing at an alternative venue.

The Rossoneri had planned to auction off the jerseys worn by their players in the match to contribute to a fundraising initiative organized by the Metropolitan City, complementing Bologna’s decision to donate half of the match’s proceeds to the same cause.

Milan now find themselves in a position of waiting to learn when the match will be rescheduled, a challenging task given the already congested fixture list. The club’s disappointment is palpable as they navigate this unexpected disruption to their season.
