Lecce manager Luca Gotti addressed the media ahead of his team’s match against Napoli, citing the need for stability in their form and performance. The Giallorossi have lost their last four Serie A matches in a row, something Gotti addressed when speaking to the press.
“It’s been a very difficult week for everyone. When dramatic events occur during a negative period, everyone talks to clarify things, but the solution lies in actions—making words correspond to deeds. A team fighting relegation has a 38-game journey and must find stability. That’s the first step we need to take right now.”
Regarding errors made against Fiorentina, he said, “Last week was excellent; we trained very well with intensity. It suggested something different. The first 20 minutes were in line with the week’s work, then it took very little for all of that to disappear. During the match, I tried to find balance that wasn’t there. I wanted a more dangerous team in the attacking phase, and in the first 20 minutes we had 2-3 potential chances. At the same time, however, we showed little solidity. We can’t lose 1-2-3 players too easily, and this put the midfield in difficulty.”
On whether the upcoming Verona match will influence his choices, he noted, “Certainly, especially for borderline situations. I have no doubts about players who are in top form. For borderline cases, we shouldn’t take risks.”
Regarding defensive choices between Pelmard and Jean, he stated, “I can’t say who’s more ready. We’ll probably see both solutions because I’m not sure if the players can last 90 minutes. The pitch will provide the answer.”
On Banda’s condition, he mentioned, “I found him in good shape, but I didn’t want to overload him, especially since after Napoli there will be only one training session before Verona. His progress seems positive to me.”
