Milan President Scaroni on Bologna-Milan: “Either we play behind closed doors or at another venue”

Start

AC Milan President Paolo Scaroni has weighed in on the ongoing situation regarding the upcoming Serie A match between Bologna and Milan. As the league awaits a final decision on whether to postpone the game, Scaroni offered his perspective on the matter.

“I don’t know much about it, as I haven’t been directly involved in the issue,” Scaroni stated. “But I think either we play behind closed doors, or we play somewhere else. The possibility of not playing the match is frankly not an option.”

The Milan president’s comments come in the wake of an ordinance signed by Bologna’s mayor to postpone the fixture. However, Serie A’s intention is to proceed with the match to avoid scheduling conflicts in an already packed calendar.

Scaroni added, “Last night we were informed of the mayor’s ordinance, and we’re considering what the solution might be.”

Meanwhile, a meeting between Bologna’s mayor and the prefect took place Friday morning to reach a definitive decision. The option of playing the match at a neutral venue remains on the table, with Como and Empoli being considered as potential alternatives.

There’s also a possibility that Bologna could face a forfeit if their Renato Dall’Ara stadium is deemed unavailable, as it is currently considered usable.
