New San Siro Stadium: Milan Mayor outlines plans for Improved public housing and area development

Start

Milan Mayor Beppe Sala addressed residents of the San Siro area during a morning press conference regarding Inter and AC Milan’s plans to construct a new stadium near the current Meazza stadium. Calciomercato report how Sala outlined two key points in his address:

“First, we will do everything possible to improve the area, bringing more green spaces and reducing chaos and traffic. Second, the funds the city will receive from selling the stadium and surrounding area to the teams will be invested in improving public housing, which is severely lacking in that area,” Sala stated.

He further elaborated on the future of the existing San Siro stadium: “The San Siro facility will not be used for events that attract large crowds, such as concerts or other matches. Therefore, we will need to partially preserve the Meazza, working to meet the teams’ needs while trying to conserve its historical vestiges. Additionally, we must improve parking management.”

When questioned about the San Donato project, which AC Milan is still considering despite an urgent request for clarification from San Donato’s mayor, Sala added: “Milan has already made an investment in San Donato. I have nothing more to add until, as I hope, something happens that will be a turning point, namely that the teams will submit an expression of interest.”

Sala concluded by mentioning that with the valuation from the Revenue Agency nearly complete, they are approaching a crucial stage in the stadium development plans.
