In a shocking turn of events, Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz returned home after his team’s match against Lazio to find his residence in Turin’s upscale hill district had been burgled. The incident occurred while Luiz was out for dinner following the game.
La Gazzetta dello Sport report that the thieves made off with 11 luxury watches valued at approximately 500,000 euros, as well as several diamond necklaces belonging to Luiz’s partner, Alisha Lehmann. Lehmann, who plays for Juventus Women, was away at a team retreat in preparation for their upcoming match against Inter Milan.
The alarm was triggered around 1:30 AM, prompting a swift response from local police and forensic teams who arrived to collect evidence and investigate the scene.
This unfortunate event adds to the challenges Luiz has faced since joining Juventus from Aston Villa in the summer transfer window. The Brazilian midfielder has struggled to adapt to Italian football, with his performances falling short of expectations.
The hill district where Luiz and Lehmann reside is known for its prestigious properties and has been targeted by burglars in the past. Other Juventus players, including Moise Kean and Kaio Jorge, have experienced similar incidents in recent years.
Despite the setback, Luiz and Lehmann have expressed their fondness for Turin since moving there. The couple chose to live in the Gran Madre area, known for its proximity to the city centre while offering a green, secluded environment – similar to where Cristiano Ronaldo resided during his time with Juventus.
