Venezia head coach Eusebio Di Francesco addressed the media in a pre-match conference ahead of their upcoming Serie A fixture against Atalanta. The manager spoke highly of goalkeeper Jesse Joronen while hinting at a potential selection dilemma between Joronen and Filip Stankovic.

Di Francesco commended Joronen’s professionalism, stating, “He’s a great professional who always trains at his maximum.” Regarding the goalkeeper selection for the match, he added, “I have to decide on the day. I’m making evaluations; either he or Stankovic will play.”

When questioned about carrying four goalkeepers in the squad, Di Francesco explained, “I always bring as many young players as I can to make them feel involved.”

The Venezia coach also expressed his admiration for Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini, describing him as “one of the most evolved coaches” and revealing that he has frequently voted for Gasperini in the Panchina d’Oro (Golden Bench) awards.

Addressing the team’s current mood, Di Francesco acknowledged a sense of regret but emphasized the squad’s strong training performances. He stated, “There are things to improve, and the boys have the desire to straighten out those matches where we deserved more, starting from tomorrow and based on one premise: the performance.”

The coach also touched upon the fitness of player Zampano, explaining that he had experienced a minor issue after the Verona match, which led to his exclusion from the previous game.

Di Francesco concluded by highlighting the support from the fans, mentioning his visit to a fan club where he felt great warmth. He emphasized, “It’s up to us now to inspire the fans.”
