Lecce manager Luca Gotti addressed the media in a press conference ahead of his team’s match against Fiorentina, providing updates on player fitness and tactical decisions.
Regarding the returning Kaba, Gotti said: “After Udinese, he rejoined the squad. He’s fit but needs to regain the intensity required for Serie A. He’s a muscular midfielder with great verticality, and he can give us some additional solutions.”
On Banda’s condition, the coach expressed optimism: “I’ll touch wood. After the Milan match, Banda stopped and did 12 days of rehabilitation only. At the beginning of this week, I gradually introduced him to the group, and yesterday he completed his first full training session with the team. Yesterday, for the first time, I saw the Banda we saw under D’Aversa. I was delighted for him. However, it’s just one training session.”
Gotti also commented on Sansone’s progress: “He joined after Udinese and is trying to increase his rhythm. Sansone is more facilitated in finding his best condition compared to Kaba. He can occupy different positions in attack. It depends on the minutes; in attack, he can play anywhere.”
Explaining his decision to play Dorgu on the right, Gotti stated: “I agree on the quality of the chain with Gallo on the left, but I have a team to set up and I need to make everything work. The choice of Dorgu on the right is to try to give a better area of the field to Rebic, who would be penalized on the right. The chain with Gallo was liked by everyone, we all benefited from it and we can benefit from it in the future too. I have to find the right balance.”
When asked about strategies to help Krstovic score more goals, Gotti responded: “I don’t think I should think about this. Lecce needs to score goals. Krstovic has scored 2 goals in 7 games, which isn’t bad. Lecce needs to score more goals.”
