Dimarco: “We played a great game, both before and after the red card”

Inter Milan and Italy national team wingback Federico Dimarco impressed with his performance in Italy’s 2-2 draw against Belgium. Speaking to the media after the match, Dimarco reflected on the team’s performance and his own contributions.

“Football is like this, it’s all about moments,” Dimarco said. “We were unlucky on that one incident, but defending for 60 minutes against Belgium wasn’t easy. We’ll take the draw, which is an important result.”

The player praised the team’s effort, especially after going down to 10 men. “We played a great game, both before and after the red card. I saw everyone giving their all, and this is the spirit that should drive us forward.”

Dimarco also commented on the importance of team cohesion, noting that many players don’t often play together at the club level. “It’s good to get to know each other better. We’re happy with how we’re working and trying to do what the coach asks of us.”

When asked about his impressive long passes, reminiscent of his Inter teammate Hakan Calhanoglu, Dimarco humbly deflected the comparison. “I don’t make comparisons with anyone, not even with Roberto Carlos,” he said, referencing the legendary Brazilian left-back.

The wingback emphasized the team’s tactical approach, stating, “The coach asks us to do certain things, and we try to implement them on the field. You could see that both today and in the two previous matches.”

Dimarco concluded by highlighting the team’s ability to execute complex plays, such as the goal that came after 18 passes. “The coach asks us to do certain things, we try to put them into practice on the field, and in the first half, it showed. We must continue like this.”
