Serie A disciplinary decisions: Conceição’s suspension upheld, Palladino and Maripan banned for one match

Start

The Serie A Disciplinary Committee, led by Judge Gerardo Mastrandrea, has announced its decisions following the seventh round of matches. Among the most notable rulings was the confirmation of Francisco Conceição’s suspension and fine for simulation during the Juventus-Cagliari match.

Despite suggestions from the Italian Referees Association (AIA) that the decision might have been incorrect, the judge upheld the original ruling. Conceição received a one-match ban and a €2,000 fine for his double yellow card offense, which included simulating a foul in the opponent’s penalty area.

In other decisions, Fiorentina coach Raffaele Palladino was handed a one-match suspension and a €5,000 fine for disrespectful criticism towards match officials. Torino defender Guillermo Maripan also received a one-match ban for serious foul play.

Several clubs were fined for crowd misbehavior, with Fiorentina receiving the largest fine of €12,000 for their supporters throwing flares. Monza and Roma were each fined €5,000 for allowing unauthorized persons in the dressing rooms who criticized match officials.

The committee also confirmed the previously announced two-match suspension for AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez following his post-match outburst against the referee in the Fiorentina-Milan game.
