Giovanni Galeone, former coach and mentor to Massimiliano Allegri, has voiced his support for a potential return of Allegri to AC Milan. Speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss (via TMW), Galeone highlighted Allegri’s past success with the club and his ability to strengthen their current squad.
“Max won immediately when he first arrived at Milan,” Galeone stated. “His return to the current Milan would be perfect given the great technical qualities of their squad. They have important individual talents in attack, and Max would be capable of restoring solidity to the defense.”
Galeone believes that if an offer were to come from Zlatan Ibrahimovic, now in a management role at Milan, Allegri would likely accept without hesitation. “If he received a proposal from Ibrahimovic, I think he would definitely accept it,” he added.
The conversation also touched on the current Serie A title race. Galeone expressed his surprise at Napoli’s strong start under Antonio Conte, noting, “At the beginning, I wouldn’t have said Napoli, especially after Verona. I must say that in his work, Conte has also had a bit of luck, which never hurts in football.”
He praised Conte’s impact on Napoli, particularly in rejuvenating players who underperformed last season. “Antonio has regenerated those players who disappointed last year. I’m thinking of Lobotka, especially: he’s returned to his Scudetto-winning form.”
Regarding other title contenders, Galeone was less optimistic about Milan’s chances and expressed doubts about Juventus. “I don’t see Milan as being up to the task, Inter is the strongest but has problems in defense, and Juventus, I don’t know… They don’t concede goals, they play decently, but I’m not convinced yet.”
